THE AMBER FOUNDATION
AT A GLANCE
The Amber Foundation is the charitable arm of a Hong Kong-based Canadian family whose mission it is to provide support for a variety of under-served communities in Hong Kong and South Asia.

Founded in 2011 by the Thomson-Sakhrani Family, The Amber Foundation has two major initiatives:
1) The Toiletries Project collects airline amenity kits and hotel toiletries which are sorted and repacked into Men's and Women's Toiletry kits. These are then offered to our Charity Partners who support women in shelters, domestic workers, the homeless, refugees, the elderly or disabled, and many others. This project started as a Boy Scout project for the Eagle Scout designation and has been running for 20 years.
2) EMPOWER by The Amber Foundation is a program started in 2017. It emerged from the provision of scholarships provided by The Amber Foundation to ethnically diverse women in University. After interviewing a scholarship awardee it became apparent that there was a desperate need for funds but an equally pressing need was to ensure career success to these hardworking, bright young women who were otherwise invisible to future employers. As a result, a series of workshops were implemented in conjunction with corporate and professional partners and the participation of Group Leaders (professional and corporate women) as role models and mentors to increase the visibility of the cohort and to expand their ability to network. Every year these personal and professional development workshops attract a cohort of young women alongside a great number of Group Leaders. The programme runs from October to May.
