With the second session of EMPOWER, Sarah Milton, the guest speaker of Actualize, taught us the top tips of networking — the 3Vs model, making first impressions and the significance of the trust equation.
Verbal, visual and vocal play a prominent role in making an impact in creating lasting impressions. A lot of the participants talked about story-telling, active listening and body language, and how it can demonstrate confidence and build rapport.
For building trust, I personally learnt that it is a gradual and slow process, through using the different ‘petal stories’. Every team shared personal life stories with their group members and these stories aimed to exhibit your reliability, credibility and empathy.

One key takeaway from the event will be — ‘show authenticity’. Being yourself at the end of the day only brings more good to your interactions and relationships.
At EMPOWER, we strive to support every ethnically diverse woman and encourage each other to our fullest potential!!
