Growing impact, measured in essentials and intention In 2025, we distributed 221,789 essential items, representing a 20% increase compared to 2024, a clear reflection of both rising need and an expanding community of supporters who continue to show up, month after month
These items included:
26,582 dental products
3,247 hygiene kits
9,735 vanity kits
18,686 lotions
48,600 personal care accessories
15,410 combs
17,391 soap and shower gel
4,048 shampoo & conditioner items
In addition, we distributed a wide range of miscellaneous essentials, from shoes, slippers, and blankets to baby items, pillows, masks, and basic household goods, responding flexibly to what our charity partners needed most at different points throughout the year. Every item moved through our system with care, intention, and respect for the people receiving it.
A full year of operating from our warehouse
2025 marked our first full year operating from our dedicated warehouse in Kennedy Town. Brought into operation in April 2024, this milestone quietly transformed how we work.
The warehouse allowed us to:
Receive and store larger volumes of donations
Sort and pack items more efficiently
Respond faster to urgent requests
Host regular volunteer sessions
Maintain consistency and quality control across all distributions
What may look like “logistics” on paper is, in practice, what enables dignity at scale. A toothbrush reaches the right place because a system exists behind it and because people give their time to make it work.
Volunteers at the heart of everything
None of this happens without volunteers. Throughout 2025, individuals, families, corporate groups, students, and long-standing supporters gave their time to sort, pack, count, label, and prepare donations for distribution. Some came once. Many returned again and again. Their contribution is not just practical; it is relational. Volunteers often tell us that being in the warehouse helps them better understand the realities faced by vulnerable communities in Hong Kong. That shared understanding strengthens the entire ecosystem of care we are building.
Responding in moments of crisis: the Tai Po fires
While 2025 included steady growth, it also demanded rapid response. The Tai Po fires were a stark reminder of how quickly stability can disappear, and how essential it is to have systems in place before a crisis hits. Thanks to our warehouse, volunteer base, and strong relationships with frontline organisations, we were able to mobilise quickly, redirecting resources and increasing distributions to support affected individuals and families. Crisis response is never just about speed. It is about coordination, trust, and readiness, all of which are built quietly, long before they are needed.
Supporting a wide and diverse network of charities
In 2025, The Toiletries Project supported over 30 charity partners across Hong Kong, including shelters, community centres, faith-based organisations, outreach programmes, and services supporting refugees, women, children, the elderly, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Our beneficiaries ranged from long-term partners to organisations responding to immediate need, including (but not limited to):
Bethune House, Christian Action, Enrich, Feeding Hong Kong, Mother’s Choice, Pathfinders, Refugee Union, Sons & Daughters, Society of Boys’ Centre, St Barnabas Society and Home, Union Church, YWAM, and many more
Each partnership is built on trust and dialogue, ensuring that what we distribute is useful, appropriate, and delivered with respect.
Every kit counts - because every person does
Behind every statistic is a person starting their day with a little more comfort, confidence, and care. A toothbrush before a job interview. Sanitary items that restore choice and privacy. A toiletry kit that helps someone feel human in a difficult moment.
This work is not about volume alone. It is about consistency, dignity, and showing up, even when the work is repetitive, behind the scenes, or unseen.
Thank you for making this possible
To everyone who donated items, organised collection drives, volunteered time, hosted collection points, coordinated logistics, or advocated for our work - thank you.
To our warehouse team and volunteers who keep donations moving with care and precision - thank you.
And to our charity partners, who trust us to support their communities - thank you.
As we move into 2026, the need remains high, but so does our collective capacity to respond. Together, we continue to prove that small, practical acts of generosity, repeated consistently, can create meaningful, lasting impact.
If you’d like to donate items, volunteer, set up an Official Collection Point, or receive support on behalf of your organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
Every kit counts. Always.
